2014 Gentle Home

Gentle Home is a very thick and tasty shou pu’er with a beautiful grounding energy. Definitely one of my favourites in my career and it’s the tea I have drunk most in my life. It’s a very rare to find such high quality affordable shou nowadays.

March 2022 update:
Price increased a lot recently. Gentle Home continues to be the most popular tea which I’m selling (maybe 60% of all sales of the webshop :D). A lot of people are ordering it for many years.

Origin, processing, trees

Gentle Home comes from the Bulang mountains. It was picked and processed in 2014. The fermentation level is medium and there is still some “shengy” freshness to it which is a sign of good aging potential. I feel the trees are somewhat old but not ancient.

Taste, aroma, mouthfeel

Full bodied, earthy and woody taste. You might also find hints of spices, chocolate, berries and Chinese Medicine. 

Very thick and oily mouthfeel even for a shou.

Qi, TCM, my experiences

It has quite a strong grounding Qi and very warming character. It usually gives me a feeling of great clarity and focus with calmness.

According to TCM shou pu’er has a warming character.

If i’m having trouble deciding which tea to offer in a tea ceremony Gentle Home is a sure choice for almost any situation.

I remember one time boiling it in the nature after being already familiar with the tea for a year or so thinking “damn this is a good tea! The kind I want to drink when i’m an old man”. Sipping the tea, my wood fire stove next to me looking at the beautiful summery lake in Finland. Check the photo!.

Brewing tips

Especially suitable tea for a cold weather or if you are a bit chilly. Suitable as an evening tea.

Best brewed in a teapot (gong-fu or side-handle) but it’s also good boiled or brewed in a thermos.
