2022 Sanctuary

I quickly fell in love with this tea and drank the cake up which I was supposed to save for selling samples. Amazing, ultra smooth character and meditative energy.

Origin, processing, trees

Origin: Na Han village in the Bang Dong area of Lincang. Lot’s of cha tou nuggets mixed with the leaves.

Taste, aroma, mouthfeel

Toasted dark bread aroma, cream, some fruitiness in later brews. Ultra smooth, ultra thick mouthfeel.

Qi, TCM, my experiences

I really love the energy of Sanctuary. It has soft, calm and meditative energy. My feeling is that it has slightly less caffeine compared to Gentle Home for example. Lasts many infusions. The tea liquid is super dark!

Checking my original tasting notes said “Very calming, very stoned, no notes after the third brew…”

According to TCM shou pu’er has a warming character.

Brewing tips

Works best in a teapot (gong-fu or side-handle) but it’s also good boiled or brewed in a thermos.
