Description
2021 Cozy
Cozy (previously called Jingmai shou) is an easygoing young shou. I’m usually grabbing it in the morning when I want something more cozy and easygoing than “full chaichosis”. This is a different tea than Yunnansourcing’s Cozy.
Origin, processing, trees
It comes from Jingmai area in Menghai county. Fermented with 2020 material.
The leaf material looks on average medium sized. It’s a very young shou so it still has some “wet-piling” character which will smooth out in the next few years. I also sampled the 2020 version which to my surprise had worse mouthfeel and more undesired “wet-piling” effect.
Taste, aroma, mouthfeel
Very sweet and fragrant wood/chocolate aroma. Quite rounded taste profile and not overly complex.
Mouthfeel is medium thick with some spicyness and freshness. I believe the mouthfeel will get better during the next few years when the “wet-piling” effect will subside.
Qi, TCM, my experiences
In the summer of 2022 I was wondering how could I describe this tea best and one word “cozy” came to mind clearly.
The effect is balanced and cozy and slightly more on the energizing / focusing side.
According to TCM shou pu’er has a warming character.
Brewing tips
Works best in a teapot (gong-fu or side-handle) but it’s also good boiled or brewed in a thermos.
Availability, price, source info (updated 22.09.2022)
Good availability.
Most likely price will increase 5-10% annually.
