2000 Water Lily
Water Lily is an excellent aged shou with a strong medicinal and aged taste.
It is one of the best (somewhat affordable) aged teas that I found in the recent years. The other recent favorite being The Crazy One which has more vibrant character.
Origin, processing, trees
Leaf material comes from Yiwu.
The leaf material is quite coarse which is common for these 250g no name bricks. The cake looks ugly but the tea is good.
Taste, aroma, mouthfeel
Strong medicinal and aged taste with hints of pepper in the beginning. Thick, nice and smooth mouthfeel with long aftertaste.
Qi, TCM, my experiences
Nice, strong flowy, thick and uplifting Qi.
I was tasting this tea first times when camping with my van next on a lake close to the recently deceased Liuttu spring. I really liked the tea and the energy gave me strong associations with water. On the lake was a lot of water lilies growing so I named it Water Lily.
According to TCM shou pu’er has a warming character.
Works nicely in a teapot (gong-fu or side-handle) but it’s also good boiled or brewed in a thermos.
Especially suitable tea for a cold weather or if you are a bit chilly. Suitable as an evening tea.
Availability, price, source info (updated 21.02.2022)
Good availability. Most likely price will increase 5-10% annually, but it could be more since this is a bit older tea.
